La República de las Seychelles es un grupo de 115 islas ubicadas en el océano Índico, al noreste de Madagascar, con una superficie total de 455 km². Pertenece a la Mancomunidad de Naciones. Una de las atracciones principales de Victoria es el Jardín Botánico, donde pueden observarse ejemplares de tortugas gigantes que son endémicas de estas islas (por ejemplo: la tortuga gigante de Aldabra; Geochelone gigantea), y que aunque son de una menor talla, son muy parecidas a las especies de tortugas presentes en de las islas Galápagos, otras especies de tortugas gigantes de las islas Seychelles son la tortuga gigante de Seychelles (Dipsochelys hololissa) y la tortuga gigante de Arnold (Dipsochelys arnoldi) ambas en peligro critico de extinción actualmente son objeto de un programa de cría en cautividad y reintroducción por la Asociación de Protección de la Naturaleza de las Seychelles. La etnia predominante es la seychellois de raíces africanas y francesas, pero también hay minorías chinas e indias. Deux espèces de tortues géantes vivent aujourdhui sur terre. La première est la tortue géante des Galápagos, dans locéan Pacifique. Giant Tortoises
Giant tortoises live in such places as Madagascar, the Seychelles, Mauritius, Réunion, the Galápagos Islands, Sulawesi, Timor, Flores and Java, often reaching enormous size—they can weigh as much as 300 kg (660 lbs) and can grow to be 1.3 m long. Today, the world's largest population inhabits Aldabra Atoll in Seychelles, where there are approximately 150000 individuals. These animals belong to the most ancient group of reptiles, appearing about 250 million years ago. In the Upper Cretaceous, 70 or 80 million years ago some already became gigantic and about 1 million years ago these reptiles reached the Galápagos Islands. Until 100000 years ago most of the gigantic species began to disappear for unknown causes and only 250 years ago there were at least 20 species and subspecies in islands of the Indian Ocean and 14 or 15 species in the Galapagos Islands. They are one of the world's longest-living animals, with an average lifespan of 100 years or more. TheMadagascar radiated tortoise Tu'i Malila was 188 at death in Tonga in 1965. Harriet was reported by the Australia Zoo to be 176 years old when she died in 2006. Also, on 23 March 2006, an Aldabra Giant Tortoise namedAdwaita died at Alipore Zoological Gardens in Kolkata. He was brought to the zoo in the 1870s from the estate of Lord Robert Clive and is thought to have been around 255 years old when he died.

Mauritius Rodrigues Island turtles
There are on this island such a multitude of those tortoises in groups of two or three thousand that you can make more than one hundred strides [] on their shells without your feet treading the ground. Francois Leguat (1693): Over the next century (1732-1771) the French East India Company, which had control over Rodrigues, removed not less than 280000 tortoises. The last record of a wild Rodrigues Island tortoise was noted by Philibert Maragon in 1794, and the last captive specimen died in Mauritius in 1829. Such was the rapid decline to extinction of two sympatric, endemic species of Indian Ocean tortoises: Cylindraspis vosmeari and Cylindrapis peltastes. In response to this sad story of loss to both science and humanity, Owen Griffiths, a trained zoologist and committed environmentalist, has initiated an ambitious project aiming at giving back to Rodrigues its past natural heritage the reintroduction of giant tortoises into a reforested nature reserve on the island. In February 2005, the new autonomous local government of Rodrigues approved the lease of initial18 hectares for the establishment of the Francois Leguat Tortoise Reserve on the limestone plains of the Islands southwest. Subsequently, 80000 endemic and native Rodrigues plants (representing 34 species) have been re-established on the site, and 35000 more will be planted in 2007, under the supervision of the Rodrigues branch of the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation. This is Terraspin's First Debut (His Second Debut was at the episode " The Forge of Creation.) He first came in the episode " Reflected Glory " to kill the sucking robot thingy. Terraspin is a Geochelone Aerio from the planet : Aldabra. EDIT : Psyphon was the first one to kill a Ultimate. Aggregor to be second. Episode Info : Forever Knights are trying to retrieve what looks like an alien artifact and Ben and his friends come to stop the attempt. Ben becomes Armodrillo and fight the Knights. After defeating them, they see a light, and it's revealed to be Cash and JT The boys say they became Plumbers and Oliver Thompson from Video Games is now working for the boys after Will Harangue fired him when the robot he built for him failed to kill Ben. Cash touches the artifact, which becomes a robot. They battle the robot and Ben becomes Terraspin. The boys begin acting like the leaders and telling the team how to fight. The Forever Knights escape with the robot's battery and they leave. JT and Cash explain they try to take credit for Ben's plans by having Oliver help them get rich and famous, so they decide to try become "somebodies". So they decide to let them go with their plan, with the exception of Kevin, but is able to go with the plan by getting some of their money. However, when they explain they are the brains behind Ben, Psyphon looks and sees what they say, angering him in some way. Terraspin is a new alien that appeared in Ben 10: Ultimate Alien. He is a Geochelone Aerio from the peaceful planet Aldabra. Terraspin's DNA sample was scanned from Galapagus in the episode, Escape From Aggregor . Like Water Hazard, Armodrillo, NRG, and AmpFibian, his species is from the Andromeda Galaxy. Ben first used this form in Reflected Glory. Terraspin is an alien from the planet Aldabra. He is a green turtle-like alien with several holes in his shell who has the ability of flight, along with producing strong winds, by withdrawing his head and arranging his limbs like a fan. He also has large, flipper-like arms and small stumpy legs. He also has retractable claws to use as fingers. His name is a combination of terrapin, which is a Terraspin's wind attack type of turtle, and spin. On the home planet of his species the people are peaceful. Terraspin appears as a playable character in Ben 10: Game Creator. The Ultimatrix scanned Galapagus (one of the aliens that Aggregor kidnapped from the Andromeda galaxy) in Escape From Aggregor and added his DNA. He resembles the Japanese monster Gamera. Rhizophora mucronata, Rhizophoraceae. Another mangrove species lives on the island; the Brughiera gymnorhiza. On the videos small trees of Thespesia populnea, Malvaceae can be seen, which is not indigenous to the island, but has proliferated on the salty shallow waters. Ile aux Aigrettes islet. Oldest Animal Species Mating Aldabra Tortoises
The Aldabra giant tortoise (Geochelone gigantea) is one of the largest tortoises in the world. The average male weighs around 550 lbs. and some have weighed as much as 793 lbs. They are strong, powerful animals that can ram through fences. They gather in herds on open grasslands. They also dig underground burrows to keep cool. They can be speedy, sometimes try acrobatic feats, and are good swimmers. Some like to have their heads patted or their necks scratched. They are said to be the longest-lived animals on earth. One, Adwaiya (the One and Only), was said to have been brought by the British from the Seychelles Islands as a gift to Robert Clive of the British East India Company in the 18th century and came to the Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) Zoo in 1875. When it died in 2006, it was thought to be 255 years old (birth year 1750) and possibly the oldest animal. A story about a 130 year old Aldabra tortoise named Mzee and a baby hippopotamus was the subject of multiple childrens books in 2006.
