SO, You Want A Big Boa Constrictor?
Was a big feeding day for me here so took some video clips and stills of Grumpy, my male Argentine eating. People REALLY need to give serious consideration to the size that snakes can grow to before they purchase them. I did a years research before I bought my snakes and PLEASE, don't get any snake you can't dedicate your respect, love and time to for it to have a good quality of life ;O) We are always fighting to defend our hobby and the last thing we need is anymore negative input for the media to blow out of proportion to use against us.

'Ares' the Boa Constrictor ( Warning Snake feeding video!! )
Ares is the second Boa Constrictor we bought ( we got Medusa first ) We hope that they will eventually like each other enough to mate. Music used: Quo Vadis 'Silence calls the storm' *** My reptile video's contain rodents being killed and eaten by my snakes. This is normal snake behaviour, this is the way they eat. If you can't stand that then don't watch the video and don't return to my channel to spoil the interest others have for these amazing creatures!!! ****

Snake Dance (Huge Boa Constrictor)
Snakes really have issues with glass and their perception of it's location because of their depth perception. Grumpy loves dancing with the front windows on their 13 foot outdoor glass enclosure. It's really amazing to watch him and he will do this for hours non stop. There are no special editing effects on this video. No forward or reverse settings on the video clips these are actually Grumpy's actions as filmed.

Boa Constrictor Eating Rabbit *vid is graphic* u holierthanthou types dont watch
Rabbit used for feeding only because they're cheap food which is needed. Thousands of rabbits are killed everyday for being pests, especially to farmers, like mice, and for some reason nobody cares about those animals. If you don't like this, than don't watch it acting like you're so much better than people who own reptiles that eat live food. And that's not mine.

Giving a Boa Constrictor Antibiotics
Respiratory Infections can be common in captive reptiles during the winter months. In some cases, all that's needed to treat it is adjust the humidity levels in the cage, and increase the temperature. When the reptile doesn't respond to this, a trip to the vet for antibiotics is in order. Left untreated, respiratory infections can be fatal. This video shows how to give a large boa constrictor an injection of Amikacin, a commonly prescribed antibiotic. It's a first-draft video, and will most likely be replaced by one of better quality later on. The quality of the video depends entirely upon how cooperative Halos (the boa) is that day.

Are Big Boa Constrictors Really So Aggressive?
I'm Dedicating This Video To A Dear Friend Of The YouTube Reptile Community, And A Great Friend Of All, Cutegayjason. In A Live Chat We Watched His Baby Green Tree Pythons Hatching Out And The Topic Of "Taming" Snakes Came Up Several Times And Questions About Getting Bit In Relation To Him Handling His Big Burmese Pythons On Camera Big Congratulations Jason!!!! I'm 5 foot 9 and weigh 130 pounds and I've been bit by my big Boa Constrictors, but NEVER did they make any effort to kill me. I'm making this video to show people that with patience, work and determination with handling we can establish a trust bond with our snakes regardless of their size. However, they are still snakes and will always have a fierce feeding aggression. Working with your snakes on a regular basis is very important to maintain that bond and they should never have to go for long periods without feeding or without human contact if you expect them to be manageable to any degree. When handling big snakes they require your FULL attention at ALL times and NEVER assume you won't get a bite if you are negligent or complacent. They are to be loved, cared for PROPERLY, but most of all respected for what they are!!!!

605. Boa Constrictor (Shel Silverstein)
A song about being swallowed by a snake. Written in 1962, it was recorded by Johnny Cash and The Brothers Four. Sheldon Alan "Shel" Silverstein (1930-1999) began his career in 1952 as a writer and cartoonist for Playboy Magazine, but he is perhaps most noted for his children's books. Some of his best known songs are "A Boy Named Sue", a big hit for Johnny Cash, "One's on the Way", a hit for Loretta Lynn and "The Unicorn", which was a hit for the Irish Rovers. He also wrote most of the songs for the pop group, Dr Hook and the Medicine Show, including "The Cover of the Rolling Stone", "Freakin' at the Freakers' Ball" and "Don't Give a Dose To the One You Love Most". Other humorous songs include "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout (Would Not Take The Garbage Out)" and "The Smoke Off" (about a contest to see who could roll a joint the fastest), and "I Got Stoned and I Missed It". A playlist of my children's songs is here: www.youtube.com For lyrics and chords of my songs, please see my website: www.raymondcrooke.com

New Colombian Red Tail Boa Constrictor
This is my new female Red Tail Boa, named Ava. I explain her story and the situation during the video, but some of the things i left out are... I keep the humidity levels in the low 50% range and during the day time, the tank is 76-79 degrees at the very bottom of the tank, and the ambient temperature in the enclosure is in the low to mid 80's. She has 2 basking spots where she has access to temperatures in the low 90's. She also has two cool hides where the temp is about 75 degrees. During the night time hours, the basking heat areas are still provided but the ambient temperature drops to about 75 degrees. I mist the cage regularly to keep the humidity correct, and I'm looking for a reptile misting machine rather than keep misting with a spray bottle. The substrate is Zilla Astro Turf for the time being, as its easy to clean when she defecates. Any other questions or concerns just let me know! Thanks. *And i'd just like to give a special thanks to my buddy Rich once again, who initially adopted or "rescued" this snake, and began her recovery.

Boa constrictor with severe stomatitis, dehydration and malnourishment
This Boa constrictor was presented to me with a severe case of stomatitis ulcerosa. The roof of the mouth was severely swollen and in the tissue there were holes filled with puss and dead flesh. Applying pressure on the nose resulted in puss running out of holes in the snake's mouth. (holes which shouldn't have been there to begin with... ) The vomero-nasal organ (Jacobsons organ) was completely destroyed and some of the bones in the upper jaw were also affected by the stomatitis. The fluids running over the right eye could not be drained due to the swelling of the surrounding tissue, hence the swelling of the head.. This animal was also severely dehydrated and malnourished, there is a video in my upload-list with the intestinal parasites this animal also had to deal with (flagellates and pinworms) ( www.youtube.com ) Unfornunately, despite treatment with antimicrobials, daily cleaning the oral mucosae subcutaneous fluids and agressive antiparasitic treatment (and a Sh*tload of money spent) this animal died after 6 or 7 days of intensive care.. Had the animal been brought in sooner (say, a month or so...) I am convinced that it would have been alive still. Some people should not be allowed to keep animals as pets.

Arguing With A Big Boa Constrictor
My male Argentine Boa, Grumpy and I have had a difference of opinion for the past few days and always ends up in a stand off. I have worked with my snakes daily for many years with hand responses and have never struck or hit any of my snakes. Through work and training a snake reacts to passive and aggressive behavior from their handler and respond likewise. Snakes sense fear and with a lot of constant work they respond to hand gestures. This action is VERY risky unless you have spent tons of hours handling them and working with them constantly. They are still snakes and do respond but they will still strike if provoked. Snakes cannot be tamed but they can bond with their handler as far as trust issues go. I started working with my two Argentines daily and as I did I observed their body language constantly under all circumstances and situations and it became clear to me that if my hand was in front of them they would stop and sit there and wait to see what my actions were going to be. If my hand was over their heads they considered that to be a dominant gesture from me and would back away. If my hand was held low to the floor surface and kept down I was showing submission and they would basically ignore me totally. I started working with these hand gestures to a point that a slight light tap on the nose would make them back off and a hand held over the head even sometimes touching the top of the head they would back off. I don't advise anyone to do this if you can't ...
